I made a bunch of tomatoes for a friend's coffee shop where they do live music on Saturdays. Sometimes the singers like to make bad jokes, so of course the tomatoes were made to throw at them. I made about 20 and put them in a basket, and of course I forgot to take a picture of them all together. Above is one of the tomatoes I made.
Tomato Pattern
-this is the pattern I made, which anyone could come up with this but here it is
1. MR 10 dc
2. ch 2, 2dc around, sl st in first dc (20)
3. ch 2, [2dc, dc] around, sl st (30)
(every row start with ch 2 and end with sl st)
4. [2dc, dc 2] around
5-7. dc around
8. [dc 2, dc 2 tog] around
9.[dc, dc 2 tog] around
-stuff
10. dec around
- finish off
Don't worry if the close looks a little ugly, it'll be covered by the stem and leaves.
For the Stem
-ch 5, sl st 2nd ch from hook, sl st, sc, hdc
-repeat 4 times
-sl st together
-dec sc in center around, (should be about 4 stitches when done)
-sc around twice
-sl st and finish off with tail to attach to base
Here are some pictures for the stem
Ch 5
Sl st 2nd ch
Sl st, then sc
hdc
Repeat starting with ch 5
After all five
sl st together
Inserted hook and did sc decrease around (just look where you can pick up a stitch, usually in middle of leaf and in between leaves)
should have 4-5 stitches
sc around to build up stem then finish off, I then pulled the tail I left down the inside of the stem to the leaves for attaching
Then you just sew it onto of the ball where you closed it up.
Hopefully this all makes sense. I've only ever written stuff done for myself, so please if you run into any errors let me know.
