My daughter's school has an auction every year to help raise money. Each class has an art project they make to sell at the auction. I volunteered to help with my daughter's class. They are all still young so I decided to do something with their hand prints. Her teacher mentioned a quilt so I went from there. I wanted to do something different than a regular block quilt so I came up with the idea to make a tree and have the kids put their hand prints on the leaves. While looking at some ideas I saw someone made butterflies with hand prints so I thought that would be cute for the teachers.
Here is the quilt we made. I think the size was around 40"x 60"
I blurred names. I thought it could use something at the bottom and I wanted to give the kids more to do so I cut out felt flowers and they got to paint them. I used fabric paint for the hand prints and flowers. I crocheted bodies and antennas for the butterflies. Flowers and butterflies are felt. The flowers have a large button sewn in the middle. The leaves are all individually sewn and then sewn onto the quilt. The tree trunk has the teachers names and school year embroidered on it.
