Fumbled Dragon

I found this cool looking pattern on etsy for an asian dragon, pattern here.  So I bought it and gave it a whirl.  I have no idea what I did but for some reason my turns in the dragon body for the most part went in the opposite direction than they were supposed to.  I unraveled I don't know how many times and just gave up and finished the pattern anyway.  Now I could have email the person I bought the pattern from, they seemed very friendly and even said to email them if I had any trouble.  They even added an extra section onto the pattern to explain the difficult part.  But I didn't because I'm a baby.   Anyway I made an okay dragon and a little boy is happily playing with it.  It was a learning experience and I learned a new technique.  So here is what the dragon is supposed to look like-

Here is how my dragon turned out

The tail did not look that great,

so I sewed it up higher onto the back helping it to be not so flat and the twists look more pronounced.

Added on the spikes

Added eyes and mouth fringe, the only things I didn't add where two horns in the pattern.

Another problem I ran into was that I used red yarn and a silver crochet thread together for the body but ran out of the thread after about halfway.  I didn't want to wait till I had time to go to the store so I just finished it.  I used the thread because I thought that it would give it a more scaley look/add a little more to it.  I wasn't happy with the mouth, I think I sewed it on too low.  It looked like a duck to me.  But after it's all said and done it looks like some sort of cute dragon.   I plan on trying another dragon based off this pattern, I'll try a couple things I think might work better for me.

  1. Thank you. I focus too much on the frustrations I had and not the final outcome.
