Epoxy Clay – Elemental Ring
-description: Learn how to work with epoxy clay to create a ring to harness your elemental power. Epoxy clay is a 2-part clay that bonds to most materials, is easy to model, and becomes rock hard in about 2 hours.
-instructor/company: Mandy Jared, Indy Upcycle
We didn't have to make an elemental ring, the class was very open to make what you like. I've never used this type of clay before. You mix a base and a hardener. The clay doesn't have to bake, it hardens in 2 hours and after 24 hours it is pretty strong. It also bonds well to other material. We used a wax cyclinder the instructor made to make our ring on, we measured the finger we wanted to make the ring for then found the right size wax base. After 24 hours I ran it under warm water to soften the wax and pull the ring off.
For my ring I decided to make a double band with a large eye on top. Unfortunately the bottom band broke off while I was trying to remove it from the wax, I didn't let the wax get soft enough and I pulled too hard. Since the clay is pretty strong I think it broke because I had the clay too thin.
Needle Felting - Winged Fairy
-description: Learn how to turn fluffy wool into a soft sculpture with needle felting. We will create a 3-D fairy complete with wire & film wings. Learn different tips and tricks for this highly addictive craft.
-instructor/company: Mandy Jared, Indy Upcycle
I haven't finished this project yet. I have the head and torso done. The great thing about this class was that even though we didn't have enough time to finish it she made sure we went home knowing how to do the rest and with all the materials we would need to finish it. I really enjoyed both classes by Indy Upcycle and hope do more with them next year.
Firebird Cuff Bracelet
-description: Whether you've made chainmaille before or are totally new to jewelry-making, this project is fun and makes a statement. Red, orange, and gold anodized aluminum scales are woven together to create a tactile piece reminiscent of a phoenix. Full color instructions and kits are provided to students. Pliers will also be available for use in class.
-instructor/company: Vanessa Walilko, Kali Butterfly
This was the best scale mail class I have taken. Her instructions had great detail for each step along with color photos.
She also used large props to help people understand the steps. I was able to finish this during the class, I've done
scale mail and chain mail before. Great instructor and great project.
Introduction to Fair Isle Knitting: Dice Bag
-description: Learn the basics of fair isle (or stranded) knitting. Make a small, two-color dice bag. If you can do the knit stitch, you can do this!
-instructor: E. Foley, Geek's Dream Girl
This was my first time Fair Isle Knitting and first time using double pointed needles. I wasn't able to finish this during the class but I had a great start. The instructor showed us how to chart our designs and even gave us some cool premade ones. I hope to do more with this type of technique.

This was a great class. Joe was funny and gave us great tips and tricks. These are paper mache book boxes that we glued crumbled tissue paper onto and then painted. So these are all paper but look like old leather. They're not completely finished but the only things that need done are the fine details and the pages. The first book is mine and the second is my husbands
